Fill your senses with adventure and excitement as you take control of an automatic 4-WD Jeep Wrangler®, wind your way through the rugged back roads of Revillagigedo Island and paddle across a serene mountain lake in a 37-foot, 20-passenger Alaska Native-style canoe.

You’ll travel mountainous unmaintained logging roads in the Tongass National Forest and enjoy informative narration via your interactive radio, with photo stops along the way. Upon your arrival at Lake Harriet Hunt, you’ll experience a unique ecosystem from the vantage point of a large, easy-to-paddle, guided canoe, and a nature walk through an old-growth forest. Our cook will have your hot Alaskan-style snack prepared for you at a remote camp along the shore.

The Experience

Head out on a thrilling backcountry adventure in Ketchikan, combining off-road Jeep driving and a scenic canoe excursion through the breathtaking Tongass National Forest.

Take the Wheel

Your journey begins as you take the wheel of a 4-wheel drive Jeep Wrangler®, navigating rugged mountain roads on Revillagigedo Island. Traveling in groups of up to four per Jeep, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to switch drivers for those eager to get behind the wheel. As you explore old-growth and new-growth forests, your expert guide will share fascinating insights via two-way radio. Along the way, stop at scenic viewpoints for spectacular photos of Alaska’s untouched wilderness.

Canoe Across the Lake

The Jeep portion of your adventure ends at Lake Harriet Hunt, where you’ll trade four wheels for a 37-foot, 20-passenger Alaska Native-style canoe. These fast, stable, and easy-to-maneuver canoes provide a unique way to experience Alaska’s pristine waterways. Paddle across the lake, surrounded by the towering trees of the Tongass National Forest, and take in the peaceful beauty of this remote wilderness.

Shore Camp & Nature Walk

On the far side of the lake, arrive at a secluded shore camp, where you’ll refuel with a delicious Alaskan snack. If you’re up for more exploration, join your guide on an optional nature walk through the temperate rainforest, learning about the unique plant life and wildlife that thrive in this lush ecosystem.

Scenic Ride Back

Your adventure wraps up with a scenic motorcoach ride back to the pier. Don’t forget your camera and driver’s license—this is an Alaskan experience you won’t want to miss!
